Why Should I Go Rafting in Jasper?

This is your chance to reconnect with nature, breathe in fresh mountain air, and feel the rush of conquering the rapids. Whether you’re a first-time river rafter or a seasoned rafter, we have a trip that will make your visit to Jasper truly unforgettable.

If you pay attention during the Safety Talk which we provide before getting on the water, and follow your guide’s instructions, probably not. Taking into consideration all three of our river trips, about 1 in 2000 people unintentionally end up in the water.

Am I going to fall out of the raft?

Is there a minimum rafting age?

There is no maximum age for rafting in Jasper, but minimum ages do apply depending on the river and trip type.

Athabasca Mile 5: minimum age 5 years

Athabasca Falls: minimum age 6 years

Based on decades of guiding experience, children under 5 generally do not enjoy Class II whitewater. These trips last close to an hour, and younger children are more likely to feel scared rather than excited. Setting age minimums helps ensure a positive experience for the child, their family, and everyone else on the raft.

Sunwapta River: minimum age 12 years

The Sunwapta River is more physically demanding, and all participants should be comfortable paddling and reasonably fit.
